Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 9 – Ukrainian foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba praised the kingdom's peace and citizens' well-being, adding that Ukrainian citizens want peace and stability like Cambodian citizens.

Dmytro Kubela spoke during a courtesy call on Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen on Wednesday morning (Nov 9) at the Peace Palace.

Ukraine has been suffering greatly from Russia invasion since 24 February 2022. The status quo of Ukraine is no different from Cambodia over 40 years ago.

Dmytro Kuleba lauded for the kingdom's peace, stability and rapid development after suffering from the civil war and Khmer Rouge regime.

On this occasion, the Ukrainian foreign minister thanked Cambodia for supporting Ukraine through the issuance of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Statement, as well as calls for an immediate end to the use of force and calls for peaceful negotiation.

He also thanked Samdech for co-sponsored the UN General Assembly Resolution against the invasion of Ukraine. He viewed these actions as an expression of the kingdom's concern about Ukraine.

On that occasion, premier Hun Sen briefed bitter past of Cambodian history to his Ukrainian counterpart. Cambodia experienced the pain and suffering from war and foreign aggression, therefore Cambodia understands the feelings of the Ukrainian people.

The premier expressed his condolences with all Ukrainians. Samdech also wished the Ukrainians a peace and development.

Samdech emphasized that Cambodia adheres to the principles in the UN Charter and international law. Cambodia firmly opposed any country that uses military force to invade sovereignty and territorial integrity of independent states.
