Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 10 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen underlined that as a member of the RCEP, Cambodia reaffirms its commitment to the rule-based trading system and welcomes all businesses and investments from the ASEAN countries and other partners.

The premier spoke at the opening of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS) 2022, held on Thursday (Nov 10) in Phnom Penh.

“Furthermore, with the purpose of combating climate change and its impacts, natural disasters and environmental degradation, Cambodia has proposed the establishment of an "ASEAN Green Deal" to re-orient ASEAN toward a green future that is sustainable and economically competitive,” the premier added.

“As the Chair of ASEAN 2022, Cambodia fully supports the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS). Cambodia affirms the commitment to collaborate closely with ASEAN Member States and all ASEAN Dialogue Partners in leading the AEC toward resiliency, sustainability, inclusiveness, and competitiveness.”

Samdech continued, “For Cambodia, with the aim of restoring and promoting a resilient, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth, the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has adopted new "Law on Investment" and set out "The Strategic Framework and Programs for Economic Recovery in the Context of Living with COVID19 in a New Normal 2021-2023".

“The RGC has also been striving to increase investment in infrastructure development both physical and digital, to improve the quality of logistics services, to enhance the efficiency of public services, to promote skill development and to modernize the social protection system,” the premier added.
