Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 13 – The 17th East Asia Summit kicked off on Sunday morning (Nov 13) at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

The East Asia Summit (EAS) is a forum where ASEAN and key Indo-Pacific partners meet to discuss political, security and economic challenges facing the region.

The EAS has 18 members - the ten ASEAN countries along with China, Republic of Korea, Japan, Australia, India, New Zealand, Russia and the United States.

In 2021 EAS members represented over 53 per cent of the world's population and accounted for 59.5 per cent of global GDP worth an estimated US$57.2 trillion.
