Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 13 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen expressed his regret that Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and Ukrainian foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba did not meet in Phnom Penh to find a solution to the crisis between the two countries.

The premier spoke at the press conference on the outcomes of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits, held on Sunday (Nov 13) in Phnom Penh.

"I have informed Ukrainian foreign minister that he should meet with Russian foreign minister in Phnom Penh for a constructive dialogue. Sadly, both parties did not meet,” the premier underlined.

Samdech continued, "specific initiatives on Russia-Ukraine talks do not seem to exist yet. Both sides tend to continue fighting, so the situation might lead to the use of weapons rather than negotiations.”

Premier Hun Sen recalled a bilateral meeting with the secretary-general of the United Nations. The premier mentioned that Ukraine is a place for grain and fertilizer production, therefore if not transported, it will create a global food crisis.
