Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 22 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen recalled the bilateral meeting with the secretary general of the United Nations António Guterres to include demining in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The premier spoke at the closing ceremony of the 30th Anniversary Conference of Humanitarian Mine Action in Cambodia, held on Tuesday morning (Nov 22) in Phnom Penh.

"In a separate meeting with the secretary general of the UN António Guterres, I suggested including demining in the SDGs because there is no mine in developed countries. In response, the secretary general of the UN appreciated my request and assured to take it into serious consideration with the UN members,” the premier underscored.

Samdech continued that António Guterres did not raise the kingdom’s domestic affairs. The meeting touched on UN Peace Keeping Operations (UNPKOs), the Khmer Rouge Tribunal, and some regional and international issues.
