Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 22 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen mentioned that during the bilateral meeting with the US president Joe Biden, there was a discussion on the US law deporting Cambodian imprisoned citizens back to the kingdom.

The premier spoke during the closing ceremony of the 30th Anniversary of the National Convention on Mine Action in Cambodia held on Tuesday morning (Nov 22).

"I also raised the issue of convicted Cambodian citizens in the US being deported to Cambodia. To avoid difficulty, we should implement the Memorandum of Understanding in 2002. Then, we can conduct either online or physical interviews,” the premier underscored.

Cambodia has an MoU with the US to accept the deportees after they served their sentences, according to the premier.
