Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 24 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen asked Indonesia to have direct flight to boost people-to-people ties and tourism sectors.

The premier spoke during a courtesy call by speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia Puan Maharani, held on Thursday morning (Nov 24) at the Peace Palace.

The premier asked Indonesia to encourage Indonesian businessmen to invest in the kingdom on various sectors such as agriculture, dry storage, and rice mills, and directly purchase rice from Cambodia. In addition, Indonesia’s companies can cooperate with Cambodian farmers to grow the rice following the companies’ needs.

Both sides also discussed regional and international issues, as well as bilateral relations between the two nations.

Puan Maharani praised the kingdom for successfully hosting 2022 ASEAN Summits and Related Summits and the 43th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA). She also expressed satisfaction with strong Cambodia-Indonesia bonds and vowed to elevate the relations to another level.
