Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 25 – Four Cambodian candidates from different legal institutions successfully defended their doctoral dissertation at the Southwestern University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL) in Chongqing, China via videoconference after conducting direct and remote research.

The four include:

First, En Sopheap, a Royal Government lawyer.

Second, Buon Somony, deputy secretary general of the Supreme Council of the Magistracy.

Third, Chun Tha Viet, director of the Department of Administration and Finance of the National Authority for Combating Drugs.

Fourth, Chhay Hong, deputy prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.

This is the result of the cooperation in the legal and judicial reform between the Cambodian Ministry of Justice and the China-ASEAN Legal Research Center under Belt and Road Initiative.

The ASEAN Elite Ph.D. Program was first implemented in 2016, and officials from legal organizations in ASEAN have been recruited to study for doctorate degrees every year since.
