Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that more than 62 percent of a total energy in Cambodia is clean and that the government pledged to invest more in renewable energy.

The premier spoke during the 11th anniversary of Minebea establishment in the kingdom, held on Thursday morning (Dec 1).

“Regarding clean energy, we have been working hard on this issue. So far, we have more than 62 percent of the clean energy generated by hydropower, solar power, and biomass. Cambodia can be considered a country with similar or greater source of renewable energy compared with other countries in the region. We pledged to expand renewable sources from solar panels," the premier underscored.

Samdech also advised the capital-provincial governors to purchase Smart LED light bulbs made in Cambodia by the Japanese Minebea Company to illuminate public streets and towns in order to reduce the electricity price and contribute to the green economy.
