Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 10 - President of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World Club Michel Bujold praised the leadership of Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen who turned the COVID19 crisis into a development opportunity for Sihanoukville to become an attractive tourist area.

Michel Bujold spoke when he led the club delegation to pay a courtesy call on the premier on Saturday morning (Dec 10).

According to the premier’s personal secretary Eang Sophalleth, what the delegation noticed as a model for other club members was that Samdech turned the COVID19 crisis into an opportunity and potential by seizing the opportunity when the pandemic was spreading to build infrastructure, roads, sewerage and wastewater treatment plants, to improve traffics, which can be said that Sihanoukville is now a bright and beautiful city.

Sophalleth added, the delegation also praised premier Hun Sen’s leadership in successfully controlling the pandemic, allowing the country to reopen and recover the economy.

Samdech replied that COVID19 brought hardships but Cambodia managed well. Not only that, the kingdom has allowed the docking of Westerdam cruise ships, carrying a total of 2,257 passengers, which was denied entries by several countries and the regions.

Meeting today on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, December 10, Samdech also highlighted the values of peace and respect for human rights.

The premier underscored that where there is peace, there is development, infrastructure construction, as well as the organization of the annual Sea Festival in coastal provinces.

During the meeting, Michel Bujold also expressed his pleasure at the presence of premier Hun Sen in Brussels, Belgium. He considered the presence of the premier an important presence in the discussion of the search for peace, which is a necessary need of European countries, especially in Ukraine.
