Belgium (FN), Dec. 13 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen announced that as of November 2022, the Royal Government has spent more than USD 2 billion, of which USD 40 million per month to help about 700,000 poor families and vulnerable in the fight against the COVID19.

The premier spoke in a meeting with nearly 2,000 Cambodians living in Europe on 12 December 2022.

"In addition to reducing poverty rate in the kingdom, the Royal Government has spent about USD 40 million per month to help about 700,000 families. Moreover, some factories decided to suspend some workers and hotel workers. As a result, we have to offer the factories' workers USD 70 per person per month, of which the government gives USD 40 and the factory owners give USD 30. Hotel workers receive USD 40 a month," the premier said.

"The Royal Government continues to help 700,000 families affected by COVID19 and an additional 600,000 families affected by inflation and floods,” the premier underscored.

According to the premier, it has been eight months that Cambodia has not reported a death case due to COVID19.

Samdech also told Cambodians in Europe that the fight against COVID19 was not easy, especially with regard to saving human life from the invisible enemy. He said that even though Cambodia is poor, Cambodia has tried to protect the lives of its people by finding vaccines to give people free of charge.
