Belgium (FN), Dec. 13 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that accusing Cambodian people of getting paid for welcoming him abroad is a serious insult to conscience or civil rights abuse.

The premier spoke in a meeting with nearly 2,000 Cambodians residing in Europe on 12 December 2022.

"Perhaps the words hiring or paying shall be ended at some point, for it is a serious insult to conscience or civil rights," the premier said.

He continued, “no one is pre-selected to join the gathering. It is a person’s right to come and join. I never think that those who come to live in the land of democracy can use such language (getting paid to welcome Hun Sen). Perhaps, it is their habit, yet it is not the habit of Hun Sen nor the CPP's.”

The premier expressed regrets that some opposition groups often categorized CPP fans as Vietnamese or the puppets of Vietnam.

He also wants to know about the so-called anti-Hun Sen demonstration, claiming he wants to see the mastermind to appear and lead the demonstrations against Samdech personally.
