Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 22 – The General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce on Thursday (Dec 22) organized the Second Forum of Cambodian Customs under the chairmanship of director general of the GDCE Kun Nhim, president of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce Kith Meng, members of Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, and senior officials of the GDCE as well as businessmen.

The Second Forum of Cambodian Customs is to raise awareness of the recent development in customs and excise, in particular in the modernization and simplification of customs procedures, governance and service providers as well as the strengthening of compliance and the law enforcement.

"The Second Forum of Cambodian Customs is a part of the implementation of the Customs-Private Partnership Mechanism established in 2010. As a result of the series of meetings under this mechanism, the business environment related to international trade in Cambodia has been gradually improved. The GDCE has effectively solved and responded to issues challenging the private sectors, in particular the disrupted global supply chain due to unpredictable crises," tycoon Kith Meng underscored.

Kun Nhim also highlighted the importance of the forum as part of efforts to raise awareness to the public audiences, especially relevant businessmen on laws, regulations, technical work,  and customs procedures aiming to promote trade facilitation, promote fair competition in Cambodia.

In addition, officials from the GDCE also presented the topics related to customs, including the implementation of pre-shipment procedures, the third phase of Cambodian National Single Window, ASEAN Single Window, Implementation of the Best Authorized Business Operators and Entrepreneurs Program, Cambodian Investment Law on Customs Administration, Customs Technical Work and Customs Audit.
