Kratie (FN), Jan. 2 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen announced that the kingdom's economic recovery achieved 5.5 percent in 2022 with the national revenue from tax and customs earned 127 percent (27 percent beyond the target) equivalent to USD 6,145 million.

The premier spoke at the groundbreaking for the construction of Kratie bridge across Mekong River, held on Monday (Jan 2) in Kratie province.

"The economy is now recovering at a rate of 5.5 percent by 2022. The General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) earned USD 2,690 million (104.94 percent) and General Department of Taxation (GDT) earned USD 3,455 million (122.54 percent). We earned USD 6,145 million, excluding non-tax revenue," the premier underscored.

In 2023, Samdech expected more Chinese tourists visiting the kingdom as China will reopen the country on 8 January 2023.

This year, the Royal Government expects Cambodia's economy to grow by 6.6 percent and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita is expected to reach USD 1,924 from USD 1,785 in 2022.
