Beijing (FN), Feb. 10 – On the second day of the official visit to China, Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen paid a courtesy call on Chinese president Xi Jinping.

Chinese president Xi Jinping thanked Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen for publicly declaring, "if I do not rely on China, who should I rely on?" Xi Jinping also granted over USD 44 million for Cambodia's Railway project to improve the livelihood of the citizens.

In addition to discussing economic and trade cooperation, Xi Jinping expressed support for Cambodia's foreign policy which attaches great importance to independence and territorial integrity.

The two leaders pledged to deepen the building of Shared Future community by focusing on six sectors such as first, politics and diplomacy;  second, capacity manufacturing and textiles; third, agriculture; fourth, energy; fifth, security; and sixth, people-to-people ties as well as the promotion of the health sector in the kingdom.

Taking this occasion, Xi Jinping expressed his interest in developing agriculture and aquaculture in the area around Cambodia's Tonle Sap Lake.

In response to the Chinese president's interest, the premier welcomed and supported the initiative to establish a fish and rice corridor in Northwestern Cambodia.

Samdech continued that the kingdom already has three economic poles such as Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville and the Northeast part of the country, and the kingdom will establish the fourth economic pole in the Northwest.

Lastly, Samdech asked Chinese president Xi Jinping to encourage more Chinese tourists to visit the kingdom after China already eased restrictions on entry and exit in early January 2023.
