Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 15 – German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier praised Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen's wise leadership on poverty reduction, effective control on COVID19, and excellent arrangement in hosting the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits.

German president spoke during an official talk with the premier, held on Wednesday (Feb 15) at the Peace Palace.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier praised the wise leadership of the premier on poverty reduction, effective control on COVID19, reopened the country, and socio-economic activities. In particular, the success chairmanship of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits amidst the COVID19 outbreak and geopolitical competition.

Lastly, the president also briefed Samdech Techo on Germany's ambitions to combat climate change and its intention to expand cooperation with Cambodia.

For his part, the premier thanked his German counterpart for his good evaluation of Cambodia. Samdech also thanked the president, the government, and the people of Germany for assisting the kingdom in demining, culture, and other sectors.

Samdech briefed the implementation of Cambodia Mine-free by 2025 and the demining process in some countries under the auspices of the United Nations, in particular, the demining training course for Ukrainian deminers, which is a humanitarian task to save innocent lives.

In this regard, Samdech expressed his satisfaction with German assistances for the past 25 years. Samdech also expressed his satisfaction and encouraged cooperation in climate change, investment, and trade between the two countries.
