Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 17 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that peace is an important foundation that allows Cambodia to bring back Khmer artifacts which are considered the ancestor’s souls and precious treasures.

The premier spoke during a celebration of returned Khmer artifacts to the kingdom, held on Friday (Mar. 17) at the Peace Palace.

The premier welcomed the repatriation of the returned Khmer artifacts.

Samdech continued, the welcoming ceremony of returning gods was not only a wonderful moment for the Cambodian people, who are the rightful owners of the cultural treasures, but also reflected the importance of good cooperation between Cambodia and other countries, in particular the efforts of the international community in combating illicit trafficking of the cultural assets for the benefit of all humanity.

On that occasion, Samdech also thanked and praised the efforts of the Royal Government and relevant authorities, with particular thanks to the United States, the United Kingdom as well as their embassies, in recovering and returning many invaluable cultural properties to the kingdom.

This repatriation of Khmer artifacts shows Cambodia's continuing commitment to finding and bringing back its ancestors' souls lost during wars.

The peace that emerges from premier Hun Sen’s wise leadership and the win-win policy has opened the possibility for the return of the souls of Khmer ancestors back to the kingdom.
