Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 10 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen stated that the Royal Government of Cambodia allows US dollar transactions in the market in order to facilitate foreign investment.

The premier spoke on Saturday morning (June 10) during his meeting with more than 16,000 workers in Kandal Stueng district, Kandal province.

The premier also highlighted the convenience of paying factory workers’ remuneration in US dollar without having to convert to the national currency.

"The Royal Government highly pays attention to macroeconomic management, curbing inflation, maintaining the purchasing power of the riel, but in general, all the transactions in Cambodian market were made in US dollars, which is convenient for attracting investment," premier underlined.

It should be noted that US dollars were circulating in Cambodia during 1990s and the dollarization has contributed positively to Cambodia's economic growth.
