Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 12 — Cambodia's trade volume reached USD 19.2 billion in the first five months of 2023, down 14 per cent from USD 22.4 billion over the same period in 2022, according to Cambodia's General Department of Customs and Excise’s report seen by Fresh News on Monday.

“From January to May 2023, Cambodia's total exports were worth USD 9.1 billion, down 2.4 per cent and the total imports reached USD 10.1 billion, down 22.6 per cent compared to the same period in 2022,” the report added.

Cambodian minister of commerce Pan Sorasak said Cambodia has been making great efforts to promote exports.

Sorasak said that Cambodia's exports decreased during the beginning of this year due to the global economy being affected by geopolitical competition and COVID19. However, the minister hoped Cambodia's export volume to show signs of improvement by the end of 2023.
