Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 13 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen revealed that an official of the Candlelight Party Sar Salongdeth is trying to flee the country, speaking on Tuesday morning (Jun 13) during his meeting with nearly 20,000 workers in Phnom Penh.

The premier also appealed to the suspect to return home and prepare for a trial, of which he has been sued by the SEA Games Organizing Committee for harshly criticizing the organization of the 2023 SEA Games and the ASEAN Para Games.

"I would like to appeal to Sar Salongdeth to stop trying to flee. Why do you need to flee the country? If you enter Thailand, I will still ask the Thai counterpart to extradite you to Cambodia. Last night, he [Salongdeth] arrived at Tmor Da, but Thai authority did not allow entry," the premier underscored.

In a recent meeting of the Candlelight Party, Salongdeth criticized the organization of the SEA Games and the ASEAN Para Games, in particular the free tickets, free accommodation and food, and free broadcasting rights that Cambodia offered.
