Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 14 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen expressed his thought that Ukraine cannot recapture the territories occupied by Russia, even if the United States and the West supply weapons to Ukraine.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (June 14) during his meeting with nearly 20,000 workers in Phnom Penh.

According to premier Hun Sen, Ukraine will not be able to recapture Russia-occupied territories by force, especially Crimea and the Donbass region as Russia also has its own armed forces and the war could not end with war.

"Ukraine has begun to attack Russia, but I do not believe that Ukraine can recapture the Russia-occupied territories by force alone," the premier underlined.

“During a virtual meeting with the Ukrainian president last time, I also asked him whether he planned to recapture the territory and he answered yes. I did not encourage the attack and I told him to find means for a peaceful dialogue. No one can stop Ukraine from attacking Russia, but I do not believe in using war to end the war, in particular to reclaim Russia-occupied territories, especially Crimea and Donbas regions," the premier added.

Samdech continued, “even if the West and the US supply weapons, it is impossible. In the end, the dead are the people of Russia and Ukraine."

Ukrainian counteroffensive began in June 2023 and reportedly recaptured some territories but suffered heavy casualties.
