Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 1 – Cambodia's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications announced to expel Facebook representatives from Cambodia and stop all activities such as company representation, government relations, and private sector partnerships in Cambodia from 30 June 2023 onward.

"Cambodia's Ministry of Post and Telecommunications would like to inform the public that it has reviewed the irregularities of Facebook’s services for users in Cambodia, such as the creation of fake accounts, the risk of private data, use and collection of private data, dissemination of false information, lack of accountability and transparency, and interference in the political affairs of the country," according to the press release seen by Fresh News on Saturday (Jul 1).

"In this regard, the Ministry decided to expel Facebook representatives from Cambodia and stop all activities such as company representation, government relations, and private sector partnerships in the kingdom from now on".

Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen announced not to shut down Facebook in Cambodia due to the citizens' demands, according to a special voice message on 30 June 2023.
