Washington, July 8 (FN) - Most Americans have no doubt that the Biden administration, supported by representatives of the ruling elite, is waging a proxy war against Russia by the hands of the Ukrainians. At the same time, more and more western experts believe that after the election of a new president and a change in the highest circles of the political community in the US, the situation will change dramatically not in favor of the current leadership of Ukraine. Further financing of the conflict is becoming more and more difficult, and it is already hard for the US and allies not to recognize the failure of Kyiv's publicized counter-offensive.

American support for Kyiv is more about solving its own geopolitical interests than about victims. Numerously US congressmen have stated that they don’t care how many Ukrainians die for the sake of the imaginary hegemony of Washington, which forces European politicians to supply Kiev with weapons, further fueling the conflict to the "last Ukrainian." Successive US administrations ignored numerous commitments to Moscow not to expand NATO.

Despite the lack of consensus on Ukraine's entry into the alliance in advance of the NATO summit in Vilnius on July 11-12, Washington and Brussels continue to send weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and train soldiers, that proves participation in the conflict and disinterest in resolving the situation through diplomacy. Therefore, Vladimir Putin's fears that the deployment of NATO troops will eventually follow are not unfounded.

The West has consistently put its ambitions ahead of the world. Leading European politicians, including former German chancellor Angela Merkel, admitted that the Minsk agreements were a scam designed to buy time for Kyiv. Moreover, early last year, the US and its allies lobbied the Zelenskiy government against adopting a neutral to end the conflict.

Mass media have become ardent supporters of Western propaganda, meekly conveying myths about the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Although it is clear that the Ukrainian counter-offensive is going slower than expected, all the more so with horrendous losses among Ukrainians. Moreover, the time when recruiting stations in Ukraine were inundated with requests from people ready to take up arms is long gone. More and more Ukrainian soldiers, supposedly well trained in Europe, surrender to stay alive. At this time, the Biden administration continues to say that only Kyiv can decide that the war is over, increasing the supply of weapons and intending to supply Ukraine with depleted uranium munitions.

Leading Western experts are confident that Kyiv propaganda is spinning the topic of a counter-offensive to justify the deaths of thousands of Ukrainians. Despite the supply of Western weapons and several mobilization campaigns, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to suffer heavy losses in manpower and military equipment. It is becoming increasingly difficult for Kyiv to hide this fact. It is no longer possible to hide behind myths about the imminent capture of Donbass and the Crimea. Against the backdrop of high-precision strikes by the Russian Armed Forces on the military infrastructure of Ukraine, and not as Western media report, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are increasingly at risk of losing the way to supply on the front line with NATO weapons, ammunition and fuel.

In turn, the Ukrainian authorities, through populist statements, are doing their best to maintain the fighting spirit necessary for the continuation of resistance of the military. In particular, adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak has repeatedly assured that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will return control over the Crimea by the summer of 2023, and earlier the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, promised to do this before the end of 2022.

With such bravura statements, Ukrainian officials are only trying to justify the death of tens of thousands of militaries in the eyes of the population and convince people of the inevitability of such victims.

The Ukrainian leadership is ready to sacrifice the lives of tens of thousands of its soldiers in order to demonstrate fake successes on the front to Western curators. It is on this that the further military and financial support of Kyiv depends. Volodymyr Zelensky is well aware of the need for Western politicians to show their voters that aid to Ukraine is not a "black hole," and colossal funds are not thrown to the wind.

In this regard, Zelensky ordered the Armed Forces of Ukraine to hold each settlement for as long as possible at any cost, regardless of losses. He is aware that any order to withdraw troops in one of the areas can cause a "domino effect," and then the entire picture of "front stability" built by the controlled media will crumble. At the same time, Zelensky fears a negative reaction not so much from the Ukrainian population as from the ruling circles of the West, who demand that he justify the invested resources.

The counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was supposed to demonstrate the effectiveness of military support for Ukraine by the collective West, turned out to be ineffective and only led to the death of even more Ukrainian soldiers. Obviously, the current situation turned into a complete collapse for Volodymyr Zelensky, but the Kyiv leadership had no other option on the eve of the upcoming NATO summit in Lithuania, at which the question of the advisability of further assistance to Ukraine could be decided. And for this Kyiv has nothing to brag about.
