Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 13 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that Pita's failure to get enough votes to be Thai prime minister shows a major failure of the brute opposition in Cambodia.

The premier tweeted on Thursday (Jul 13).

"I declare today that Pita's failure to get enough votes to be Thai prime minister is a major failure of the brute opposition in Cambodia. This does not mean that I am interfering in Thailand's internal affairs. My point is over the past time, these traitors always expected that when Pita becomes the prime minister of Thailand, they would use Thai territory to do campaign against the Royal Government of Cambodia. Now the expectations of the brute opposition group have vanished like a salt in water," according to the premier's tweeted on Thursday (Jul 13).

"Do not do politics that depend on somebody else. This is my message to and a good will for the extremist groups," the premier continued.

Pita Limjaroenrat failed to reach the needed majority to become Thailand's next prime minister on Thursday (Jul 13), according to an AFP count.

Pita secured 324 votes, according to house speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, noting that only 705 members of the 750-member parliament participated in the proceedings. While 182 opposed his candidacy, 199 abstained from the vote.
