Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 14 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen clarified four points in connection with Pita's failure to be Thai prime minister showing a failure of the extremist opposition in Cambodia.

“Last night, I posted a message which means that Pita not elected as Thai PM shows a failure of the extremist opposition group in Cambodia because this group has used Pita and his party to campaign in a sense that after Pita took office as prime minister, they will act out of Thailand until a foreign radio broadcasting in Khmer mentions that extremist leaders will come to Cambodia through Thai territory. This extremist group has used the name of Pita for almost two months since he won the election,” The premier wrote on his Twitter on Friday (Jul 14).

Samdech continued, “I do not oppose Pita and neither do I interfere in internal affairs of Thailand. My message is intended to tell the extremist group in Cambodia that their wishes are dissolved like salt in water. After I posted my message, many Thai people commented in Thai language which I could not understand.”

“Here I would like to emphasize:
1. I am not against Pita and I am ready to work with Pita in case Pita leads the Thai government.

2. I respect the decision of the Thai people and I do not interfere in internal affairs of Thailand.

3. I am ready to work with Thai leader regardless of who or which party.

4. Khmer extremist group who use Thai territory for activities against Cambodia, including using Pita’s name for their political gains, should stop the political acts that rely on the breath of others to destroy their own nation, especially stop using the name of Pita, who does not know he is being used, to oppose Cambodia.”
