Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 2 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen, president of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), extended his heartfelt gratitude to president of the Republic of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega Saavedra and vice president Rosario Murillo for congratulating the CPP on the election victory.

“This Election of Members of the National Assembly for the 7th Legislature, marked by the highest voter turnout in years, is a clear demonstration of the vibrancy of the kingdom’s democracy and reflects the trust of our citizens in the electoral process,” premier Hun Sen wrote in letter seen by Fresh News on Wednesday (Aug 2).

“I wholeheartedly support and wish for the continued development and prosperity of our two countries, fostering peace and mutual benefits for our peoples,” the premier added.

Prime minister Hun Sen’s letter is made in response to the congratulatory letters extended by top leaders of Nicaragua.

According to a letter dated 23 July 2023, Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the United Nicaragua Triumphs wrote:

“Dear Brother Hun Sen

We congratulate your victory at the head of the Cambodian People’s Party, during the Elections celebrated this Sunday, with the participation of 84.2 per cent of your People.

Always remembering our fraternal visit to your country, together with liberating peoples, we salute your triumph, your party and your people, wishing you peace, well-being and prosperity, to advance in the new world that we all want.”
