Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 2 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen, president of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), would like to convey his sincere and high appreciation to general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Nguyen Phu Trong for congratulating him and the CPP on the 2023 general election victory.

“I am delighted that our long-standing and cordial relations as well as close cooperation between our two countries have been deepened and enhanced in all areas and at all levels under the spirit of “Good Neighborliness, Traditional Friendship, Comprehensive Cooperation, and Long-lasting Stability,” according to the letter seen by Fresh News on Wednesday (Aug 2).

“In this regard, I am deeply appreciative of Viet Nam’s unwavering support towards Cambodia’s national development and may I reaffirm Cambodia’s firm commitment to further strengthen our excellent party-to-party, government-to-government, and people-to-people ties for the mutual benefit of our nations. I will continue working closely with Your Excellency to elevate our existing good relations and fruitful cooperation to a new height.”

Prime minister Hun Sen’s letter is made in response to the congratulatory letters extended by Nguyen Phu Trong.

According to a letter dated 25 July 2023, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Nguyen Phu Trong was pleased with the success of Cambodia’s 7th Mandate National Assembly Election, which was held on 23 July 2023.

“On behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, I would like to convey my sincere to the Central Committee of the CPP and Samdech Techo Hun Sen and congratulate the CPP on its victory. The results of this election once again confirm the role and prestige of the Cambodian People's Party under the leadership of Samdech.

We strongly believe that through the improvement of the results achieved, along with the rich experience and overwhelming support of the Cambodian people, the National Assembly and the new government in Cambodia, led by the CPP will be formed soon and will continue to achieve new and greater achievements in the cause of protecting, building and developing the motherland of Cambodia in peace, stability, development and prosperity.

I fully supported the cause of building and developing the motherland of Cambodia and did his best to work with Cambodia to preserve and provide a better relationship between the two parties, the two states and the two peoples."
