Kandal (FN), Aug. 3 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said the 2023 general election is both the competition for the National Assembly seats, and the competition between the pro-democracy group and democracy-destroyer group.

"I would like to inform that the election in Cambodia has two characteristics. First, the competition for seats in the National Assembly which was conducted in a calm manner. However, the real competition was the competition between the pro-democracy group and the democracy-destroyer group. The democracy-destroyer group prevented the citizens from voting or casting spoiled ballot,” the premier underscored.

According to Samdech, the reason why Samdech announced that the pro-democracy group won over the democracy-destroyer group reflected through a provisional voter turnout of 84.59% and only about 5 percent of the ballots were invalid.

Based on the report, during 2023 Cambodia general election, the provisional voter turnout reached 84.59%, an equivalent to 8,214,430 among the 9,710,655 registered voters. The provisional invalid ballots in the 2023 general election were over 440,000.
