Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 5 – The general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) on the election victory and strongly supported the new Royal Government under the leadership of Hun Manet.

The general secretary spoke during a meeting with Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen on Saturday (Aug 5) via videoconference.

In this meeting, Nguyen Phu Trong praised the achievement of the CPP under the leadership of premier Hun Sen and strongly believed that Cambodia will continue to achieve new victories under the leadership of the CPP and Hun Manet. He expressed his full support for the development of Cambodia, as well as the joint commitment to maintain good relations between the two parties and governments.

For his part, the premier thanked Nguyen Phu Trong for sending congratulatory letter and wished Samdech and the CPP election victory through a phone call that is a testimony of strong solidarity and fraternity and comprehensive and lasting cooperation between the two countries.

Samdech praised the great achievements of the Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, led by general secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, which brought steady progress in socio-economic development, and further promoted Viet Nam's prestige and role in both regional and international forums.

Samdech expressed his deep gratitude to Nguyen Phu Trong for expressing his strong belief and support for the CPP and the new Royal Government led by Hun Manet, who received landslide supports from citizens.

Both leaders underscored the importance of continuing to deepen cooperation for the mutual benefits of the two peoples based on the spirit of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-lasting stability.

The two leaders pointed out the importance of traditional solidarity and mutual assistance, which is the most important factor in the cause of national unity and territorial unity and the liberation of the people, as well as the building and development of the two countries. At the same time, both leaders also stressed the importance of training young successors to learn and gain experience from each other.

Both sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in multilateral frameworks, including the United Nations and ASEAN, and to continue to promote closer cooperation in the sub-regional framework, especially the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle frameworks, and Mekong sub-region cooperation that will contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.

Lastly, Samdech invited Nguyen Phu Trong to visit Cambodia at an appropriate time. Nguyen Phu Trong also invited Samdech and other leaders to visit Viet Nam at an appropriate time.
