Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 13 – Cambodian prime minister-designate Hun Manet and visiting Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi pledged to further promote closer Cambodia-China cooperation.

Wang Yi held a meeting with Hun Manet on Sunday (Aug. 13) at the Peace Palace.

Wang Yi reaffirmed his commitment to continue to promote effective and close cooperation with Cambodia. Moreover, the Chinese side is ready to welcome the official visit and participation of Hun Manet in the 20th China-ASEAN Expo that will be held in Nanning, Guangxi Province, China in mid-September 2023.

For his part, Hun Manet thanked and reaffirmed China of the new Royal Government of Cambodia’s firm position on "One-China Policy" and non-interference in China's internal affairs. At the same time, Manet accepted the invitation to attend the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative in Beijing, China in mid-October 2023.

Lastly, the two sides pledged to continue to promote closer Cambodia-China cooperation by maintaining past achievements as well as expanding the direction of cooperation in new sectors such as electricity, in particular hydropower, infrastructure, agriculture, and trade and more. In addition, the two sides also agreed to continue the cooperation and mutual support in the both regional and international frameworks.
