Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 21 – Cambodian king Norodom Sihamoni believed that the new Royal Government of Cambodia will fulfill its obligation to continue to promote economic growth and improve the living standards of the citizens.

The king spoke during the first session of the 7th legislative mandate on Monday morning (Aug. 21) at the National Assembly.

"I firmly believed that the new Royal Government of Cambodia, which will be​​ granted vote of confidence by the National Assembly, will fulfill its policy obligations to continue to promote economic growth, improve citizens’ living standards, continue to develop and strengthen social protection as well as preservation and sustainable cultural development in order to ensure the strong existence of national identity, promote socio-economic development in line with the promotion of morality for the harmony of society,” the king underscored.

On the occasion, the king also pointed out that it has been 30 years since the establishment of the National Assembly in 1993 and Cambodia has transformed from a divided nation into a peaceful, stable, democratic, and developing country.

The king underlined that the National Assembly, as a legislative body, will continue to fulfill its duties as stipulated in the constitution and the regulation in force to continue to enhance the political, economic, social, and cultural sustainability to make Cambodia become a strong and prosperous nation, ensure fair implementation of the law for all citizens, and ensure the protection and promotion of all rights and freedoms for citizens.

The king continued, in order to fulfill this task, the Cambodian citizens must have a high level of national unity and solidarity, based on the spirit of national unity and adhering to the four sublime states of mind such as loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity.
