Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 22 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet called to congratulate the newly elected Thai prime minister Srettha Thavisin and that the Thai counterpart also congratulated him on his appointment as Cambodian prime minister.

Manet told Fresh News CEO Lim Chea Vutha on Tuesday evening (Aug. 22).

“This evening, I was on the phone with Thai new prime minister Srettha Thavisin. We both congratulated each other on our appointment and committed to further strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the government and the people of the two countries,” the premier underlined.

Thavisin said Manet is the first head of the government to call to congratulate him following his appointment as Thai prime minister today.

Earlier today, Cambodian National Assembly granted vote of confidence to the new cabinet led by prime minister Hun Manet. At the same time, Srettha Thavisin was elected today as Thailand's new prime minister after parliamentary vote.
