Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 28 – South Korean minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Chung Hwang-Keun expressed his confidence that Cambodia will continue to grow under the wise leadership of Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen.

The minister’s statement was made during a courtesy call on premier Hun Manet on Monday (Aug. 28) at the Peace Palace.

Premier Hun Manet warmly welcomed Chung Hwang-Keun for his official visit to the Kingdom. The visit highlighted Cambodia-South Korea close cooperation in the fields of agriculture and other sectors.

Chung Hwang-Keun thanked Manet for his warmest welcome, and congratulated Manet on his recent appointment as Cambodian prime minister.

Taking this occasion, Chung Hwang-Keun also underlined the close partnership between Cambodia and South Korea, in particular the international cooperation and official development assistance after the two countries have been re-established diplomatic ties since the late 90s. He also noted the great potential of Cambodia, such as natural resources and demographics, and under the wise leadership of Hun Manet, the agriculture and other potential sectors will further grow in the near future.

For his part, premier Hun Manet welcomed and thanked Chung Hwang-Keun and the South Korean president for sending a congratulatory letter for his recent appointment.

Manet also thanked the South Korean side for offering support and concern for Cambodian workers in South Korea through the Labor Protection Center, which provides protection services to workers from all countries. Manet also expressed Cambodia's support for South Korea's bid to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan.

Lastly, Manet requested South Korea to promote investment in Cambodia, especially in the agricultural sector for export. The two sides also agreed to further strengthen and expand cooperation and trade.
