Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 29 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet affirmed that the congratulatory letter from the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on his recent appointment represented congratulatory messages of every country in the EU.

The premier spoke during his meeting with nearly 20,000 workers in Phnom Penh's Por Senchey district on Tuesday morning (Aug. 29).

"On 25 (August), I received [congratulatory letter] from the president of the European Commission, who is among the top leaders in the EU. We do not need to receive the messages from every European country; she represents the EU. More than 20 countries have sent congratulatory messages. If each member does not congratulate me, those countries should not let their president send congratulatory messages," Manet underscored.

Manet responded to those who claimed European countries do not congratulate him that the president of the European Commission and the president of the ADB already sent him the congratulatory letters.
