Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 29 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet advised minister of culture and fine arts Phoeurng Sackona to increase the quantity of researchers on Khmer history and have history books written by Cambodians.

The premier spoke during his meeting with nearly 20,000 workers in Phnom Penh's Por Senchey district on Tuesday morning (Aug. 29).

"I already talked to minister Phoeurng Sackona to increase the quantity of historians because if we do not write our history, the others will write the history for us, and please be careful for the next 100 years. The winner writes the history. Our history, when I was studying abroad, I wanted to know Khmer history, but I only found it written in French. We need more books authored by Cambodians. Thus, I encouraged focusing on this matter," Manet underscored.
