Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 18 – The first official visit of Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet to China recently brought fruitful results for the nation beyond expectation and received congratulatory from citizens, according to Cambodia’s delegate minister So Naro.

After paid separate courtesy calls and discussions with Chinese top leaders, namely president Xi Jinping, chairman of the standing committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhao Leji, and premier Li Qiang, both sides issued a joint communique focus on advancing comprehensive strategic partnership, a building a Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era, to deepen strategic synergy between Pentagonal Strategy and the Belt and Road Initiative and focus on developing a diamond cooperation framework.

In addition, encourages cooperation among companies of the two countries in the fields of agro-industries, transportation infrastructure, electricity, energy, and manufacturing.

In particular, for Sihanoukville, for more than ten years, under the wise leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, has received many investments from business companies and many Chinese tourists to Sihanoukville. Unfortunately, the international tourists were dropped, particularly Chinese tourists, due to COVID19 pandemic. The Chinese investors also do not return, leaving many incomplete-building. As a result, the living standard of citizens are more difficult compare to the pre-COVID19 period.

Seeing this challenge, during the first official visit of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, he worked tirelessly to urge his Chinese counterpart to resolve these issues nationwide and Sihanoukville. Therefore, in the joint communique between Cambodia and China wrote that “Give full play to Cambodia-China Working Mechanism for Production Capacity and Investment Cooperation, with the vision of developing Preah Sihanouk Province as a model of the multipurpose Special Economic Zone (SEZ), jointly conducting studies on Industrial and Technological Corridor in Cambodia. Build on the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) as the flagship project and Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway to attract more competent Chinese enterprises to increase investment in Cambodia.

Both sides agreed to enhance exchanges cooperation between cultural and tourism sectors of both countries through joint project development of tourism products, human resources, and mutual support of tourism marketing and promotion.
