Takeo (FN), Sep. 19 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet said not only Cambodia adheres to the One-China policy, but 181 United Nations (UN) members also adhere to the policy for the sake of national interests and trade.

The premier spoke on Tuesday morning (Sep. 19) during a meeting with nearly 20,000 workers in Bati district, Takeo province.

"There was a radio broadcasting that some countries condemn Cambodia because Cambodia adheres to the One-China policy. I would like you to do some research. Among 193 members of the UN, 181 members adhere to the One-China policy, including the United States. There is nothing wrong with Cambodia adhering to the policy. All ASEAN members also adhere to the One-China policy," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei underlined that his official to China reaffirmed Cambodia's diplomatic policy with China. In addition, Cambodia will continue to maintain sustainability and expand cooperation with Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and the US. The premier’s visit to Nanning will boost ASEAN-China trade relations, which currently reach nearly USD 1 trillion in trade volume.

According to the data from Cambodia's General Department of Customs and Excise, as of August 2023, the Cambodia-China trade volume reached more than USD 8 billion, up by 1.1% compared to the same period in 2022.
