“The following is an example of a daily report sent to me by the minister of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation (28 September 2023).

This report presents cash data distributed by the Royal Government to help poor and vulnerable people, pregnant women and children under the age of two, and vulnerable households due to inflationary pressures through three cash subsidies:

1. Support for poor and vulnerable households during COVID19. This program started on 24 June 2020 and has been running for 39 months. So far, 437,731 families (equivalent to more than 2.7 million people) benefited from this program, with the government spending nearly USD 1.2 billion.

2. Cash support for pregnant women and children under the age of two, which was implemented on 1 June 2019. So far, 339,977 women and children have benefited from this program, with a total budget of nearly USD 27 million.

3. Cash support for vulnerable households due to inflationary pressures was implemented on 3 December 2022. So far, 495,119 families (equivalent to more than 1.8 million people) benefited from this program, with the government spending more than USD 42 million.

Therefore, as of 28 September 2023, the three programs have provided benefits to more than 2.7 million poor or vulnerable families (or 437,731 families), 339,977 pregnant women and children under the age of two, and vulnerable families due to inflationary pressures of more than 1.8 million people (or 495,119 households), which the government spending a total of more than USD 1,200 million.

The above showed only three cash sponsorship programs. In addition, the Royal Government has set out many other assistance policies to help citizens nationwide. Cambodia is not a very rich country, but the Royal Government of Cambodia is willing to help its people."
