Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 5 – Cambodian prime minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet instructed capital-provincial leaders to conduct a thorough selection of school principals and health center directors.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Oct. 5) on the occasion of the 26th National Teacher's Day, held at Institute of Technology of Cambodia.

Premier Hun Manet said, "it is very important for the principal, who is in charge of the school, to be a role model for the teachers and the students. A principal with a leadership and self-discipline is a good principal.”

Samdech Thipadei added, "the selection of school principals is very important. Now we have decentralization. […] We need to have a mechanism to manage it, because each principal must implement a plan from the national level. There must be a standard of practice for education and health sectors.”

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet instructed the minister of Interior and the minister of Education to set up an appropriate mechanism to facilitate the selection of school principals. He also urged the relevant ministries and institutions to consider the mechanism and suggest to Samdech to review and decide.

In addition, Samdech underlined that the ambition for the mandate of his leadership is to make all schools better for all.

On the occasion, the premier also instructed the provincial governor to pay high attention to the selection of director of the health center and the school principal.
