Beijing (FN), Oct. 17 – China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) announced a plan to invest in gas energy in Cambodia with a substantial capital of about USD 3 billion.

The intention was made during CMEC chairman of the Board of Directors Wang Bo paid a courtesy call on Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet on Tuesday (Oct. 17) in Beijing.

Wang Bo thanked Samdech Thipadei for allowing him and his colleagues to pay a courtesy call and brief the CMEC's progress, a subsidiary of SINOMACH, which specializes in clean water, energy and infrastructure and has invested in various projects in the kingdom.

Wang Bo mentioned that in the next 10 years, CMEC plans to co-invest with two Cambodian companies in the amount of about USD 3 billion in the gas energy sector.

Taking this occasion, Wang Bo also praised the development and progress in every sector of Cambodia under the wise leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen in the past. Wang Bo is confident that under Samdech Thipadei's leadership, Cambodia will have rapid development, which is also a credible factor for expanding investment in Cambodia.

For his part, premier Hun Manet also congratulated CMEC for their successful investment in Cambodia. The premier also welcomed and supported further investment projects of CMEC, which contributed to the development of Cambodia to grow more prosperous.
