Beijing (FN), Oct. 17 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet touched on the development direction of the Cambodian railway system and expressed his intention to expand the railway network coverage nationwide.

The premier spoke during a meeting with Wang Jianping, chairman of the Board of Directors of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) on Tuesday morning (Oct. 17) in Beijing.

During the meeting, Wang Jianping thanked Samdech Thipadei for allowing him and his colleagues to pay a courtesy call, and for the support for the company's investment in Cambodia.

On that occasion, the CRCC chairman also informed Samdech Thipadei about the progress of the company as so far, it has a total investment of 53 projects worth USD 5.3 billion in Cambodia. For the future direction, the company also plans to invest in three more major projects, including e-government data management center, Phnom Penh-Siem Reap and Phnom Penh-Poipet railway, and Water supply in provinces along the Mekong River.

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the management of CRCC, thanked and supported the company's investment projects in Cambodia, especially investment in water supply and railway systems.

Regarding the development of the nationwide railway system, prime minister Hun Manet encouraged feasibility study on the repair and modernization of the existing railway and the study on the railway network coverage to connect Phnom Penh and Bavet, Poipet and Siem Reap, and to the Vietnamese border through Stung Treng and Mondulkiri provinces.
