Cambodia and China have developed a close and exemplary relationship since establishing diplomatic relations in 1958. In February 2023, former Cambodian prime minister, Samedch Techo Hun Sen visited China and agreed with Chinese president Xi Jinping to work together to build a high-quality, high-level, and high-standard China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era. The two leaders also reached consensus on the China-Cambodia "Diamond Hexagon" cooperation framework. In September, Cambodian prime minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet visited China and renewed the action plan to build a community with a shared future with China. The China-Cambodia community with a shared future has entered a new stage.

2023 also marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia and the “Year of China-Cambodia Friendship”, which will provide new impetus to the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Cambodia.
