Beijing (FN), Oct. 17 – Leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) expressed their willingness to continue to support the Pentagon strategy of Cambodian seventh-mandate Royal Government.

Member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee Cai Qi spoke during a courtesy call on Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet on Tuesday morning (Oct. 17) in Beijing.

During the meeting, Cai Qi welcomed Samdech Thipadei and the delegation of the Cambodian Government, stating that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the official Cambodia-China diplomatic ties. He also expressed his confidence that under Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet’s leadership, the process of building a common destiny of Cambodia and China will be further strengthened and expanded.

At the same time, Cai Qi also expressed his willingness to continue to support the Pentagon strategy of the Royal Government of the 7th mandate, and also reminded of some brilliant achievements arising from the cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative between Cambodia and China for more than 10 years, including the development of the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, the new Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, and the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway Construction Project.

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked Cai Qi for taking the time to meet with the delegation of the Cambodian Government and stated that this was the second time that the premier had led the delegation to visit China after the formation of the Royal Government of the 7th mandate in August 2023, which is a reflection of Cambodia's willingness to further strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side, and also a continuation of the legacy of good relations left by the Royal Government of the past mandates, as well as the historical ties that the late King father and the previous generation of Chinese leaders have built.

In this regard, prime minister Hun Manet agreed with the views of Cai Qi, who has highly valued the relations between the two countries over the past 65 years and given importance to the further strengthening and expansion of cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally.

On the occasion, the premier also stressed the importance of "Diamond Hexagon Cooperation" between the two countries, focusing on six priority areas including politics, quality and production capacity, agriculture, energy, security and people-to-people exchanges.

Both leaders also discussed party-to-party relations in order to further strengthen cooperation through senior leaders' exchange visits and youth-to-youth exchanges.
