Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 1 – Kabbas Co. Ltd. became the first ever Cambodian company to receive Indonesia's prestigious Primaduta Award for its achievements in promoting Indonesia-Cambodia trade relations. This was the highest form of appreciation by the Indonesian Government for Kabbas' contribution in making Indonesian products more accessible to the Cambodian consumers.

The award was presented to director of Kabbas Kim Bunly by the Indonesian ambassador to Cambodia Santo Darmosumarto, during a festive ceremony held at the Indonesian Embassy on Tuesday (Oct. 31). Present at the ceremony were high officials from the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce and the Indonesia-Cambodia business community in Phnom Penh.

Indonesian ambassador Santo Darmosumarto highlighted that the Primaduta Award is not always about figures and statistics, but also "an acknowledgment for the tireless efforts of companies like Kabbas Co. Ltd. in promoting Indonesian products and making them more widely available in the Cambodian market. We look forward to many more companies like Kabbas among the business community here".

Kabbas began its cooperation with Indonesian exporters in 2009. However, in the past 5 years, it has succeeded in aggressively increasing the import of Indonesian products, including snacks, beverages, and household paper products.

This year, 23 companies from various corners of the world won the Primaduta Award; Kabbas won in the category of ‘Best Performing Importer'. The announcement of the winners had been conducted during the Opening Ceremony of the 38th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) on 18 October 2023.

TEI is the largest annual government-sponsored trade fair in Indonesia. This year's event attracted more than 3,000 buyers from 114 countries, including 26 from Cambodia. The total potential transactions during the Expo amounted to USD 25.3 billion.
