Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 9 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that Samdech Thipadei himself as well as his descendants and great-grandchildren throughout the country will always remember the merits and heroic example of the late king father, who sacrificed his body and wisdom to fight for independence for the nation and made the world know Cambodia again as an independent nation that stands on equal footing with other nations.

The premier spoke during the 70th Anniversary of National Independence Day on Thursday morning (Nov. 9) in Phnom Penh.

The premier added that in addition to gaining independence within the country, Cambodian late king father was also a key figure in promoting international solidarity among the newly independent countries as one of the founding fathers of the Non-Aligned Movement to promote the self-determination among nations across the world in determining the destiny, future and leadership of each nation.

"Independence and peace do not happen by themselves. They came from the hard work and initiative of the Khmer people themselves, with strong will and dedication. In this sense, as the Cambodian people, the next generation of leaders, all of us are determined to follow in the footsteps of the historical and heroic deeds of the Late King Father and together as one under the leadership of King Norodom Sihamoni will continue to maintain and protect the stability of independence, sovereignty, peace and development and the eternal existence of the Khmer nation”, Samdech Thipadei underline.

Samdech Thipadei added that he has never forgotten the historically significant presence of Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk in freedom, dignity and happiness. The queen mother always stood by and support the Late King Father when he was alive in his greatest mission for the cause of his nation, and his people.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei would like to express his deepest feelings and sincere respect to King Norodom Sihamoni, who continues to preserve the work and achievements of the late king father, especially in strengthening the spirit of national unity, protection, peace and development.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also would like to express his gratitude to the king for his support and encouragement to the Senate, the National Assembly and the Royal Government of Cambodia to fulfill their duties and obligations to serve the nation.
