Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 15 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet confirmed that four police officers were dismissed for a series of gunfire in the air on Kirirom mountain on the night of 11 November 2023.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Nov. 15) during an inauguration of Koh Norea Bridge in Phnom Penh.

The four suspects admitted to firing approximately 30 shots on the day of the incident, yet the investigation uncovered around 200 used bullets at the scene. However, authorities have preliminarily determined that gunshots had occurred at the same venue in previous instances.

It should be noted that the wild gunfire came from a birthday party hosted by Chhay, a 28-year-old man living in Phnom Penh, which was held at Chamkar Te, Chambok commune, Phnom Sruoch district, Kampong Speu province.

The incident took place on 11 November 2023 on the Kirirom mountain as the local people heard a series of gunshots at about 21:00 on the same day.

On 13 November 2023, the joint police force inspected the scene and found more than 200 spent shell casings.
