Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 15 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on banks and financial institutions to ease loan conditions to alleviate the difficulties for borrowers.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Nov. 15) during an inauguration of Koh Norea Bridge in Phnom Penh.

"Now, the Royal Government and the National Bank have relaxed some conditions for the banking sector and certain companies. Therefore, operators in this sector should take steps to alleviate difficulties for customers to the best of their ability in a cautious manner”, Samdech Thipadei underscored.

Samdech Manipadei Hun Manet underlined this is a mutual assistance effort because, ultimately, the customer is the key player. If the customer faces issues with the bank or lending company, it impacts not only them but also the government.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet emphasized that the principles outlined by the Royal Government are intended to encourage operators in banking, real estate, and other sectors to consider measures that can assist those in need of loans.

Samdech Thipadei added that we must support each other during challenging times, but, of course, with caution. We aim for facilitation under appropriate conditions.
