Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 15 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet confirmed that, based on his experiences living and studying in some European countries, the security situation in Phnom Penh surpasses that of those in Europe, speaking on Wednesday (Nov. 15) during an inauguration of Koh Norea Bridge in Phnom Penh.

"Now, to be honest and without intending to disparage any specific country, having studied in Europe, I find that Phnom Penh exhibits better security conditions. However, I refrain from singling out any country for criticism. While things have improved, it doesn't mean everything is perfect. We still face challenges, and I want to commend our security forces for their efforts,” Samdech Thipadei

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also instructed the Phnom Penh Capital Administration to continue to pay attention to implement the safe village and commune policy to strengthen security and public order, crack down on thieves, robbers and gangsters to ensure the safety of the people and both local and international tourists, as well as to cooperate well with ministries, institutions, especially the Ministry of Tourism to jointly solve challenges and promote tourism, including the provision of travel services, accommodation, food and hospitality for excellent tourism in line with the slogan "clean city, good service and good hospitality”.

Samdech Thipadei also thanked the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, Provincial Police Commissioners, National Police Commissioners and the Armed Forces in all capital-provinces for their collaborative efforts in implementing the safe village and commune policy. Despite occasional minor insecurities, the overall situation is largely manageable.

The premier also reminisced about the 1990s when robberies were frequent, with groups like Rasmach and other groups.
