Kampong Chhnang (FN), Nov. 22 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced that following the official inauguration of National Road No. 5, the Royal Government will actively promote investment in the establishment of factories and special economic zones along this route. The aim is to bolster the national economy and curb citizens' migration.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Nov. 22) during an inauguration for the official use of National Road No. 5 from Prek Kdam to Battambang and groundbreaking for the construction from Serei Sophorn to Poipet.

"The significance of our infrastructure, particularly National Road No. 5, cannot be overstated in driving the national economy. Our objective is equity, moving beyond concentrating growth in Phnom Penh. We are committed to providing national roads, clean water, and electricity to areas beyond Phnom Penh. Currently, accessible electricity is available in almost all communes, with only a few remaining. Additionally, we have set goals for providing accessible clean water and implementing irrigation systems. While this may not cover the entire country, we are determined to make substantial progress," underscored the premier.
