Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 4 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet told the Ministry of Information to advise all public and private radio and television stations to increase broadcasting hours with sign language and running text for deaf-and-mute persons.

The premier spoke on Monday (Dec. 4) during the celebration of the 25th National and 41st International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center in Phnom Penh.

"The Ministry of Information is tasked with advising all public and private radio and television stations, as well as other media outlets, to increase broadcasting hours with sign language and running text. This will facilitate timely access to information for the deaf-and-mute persons," the premier underscored.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also advised all ministries, institutions, and the private sector to promote PWDs with the qualifications and abilities to undertake their duties and responsibilities. These individuals should be given opportunities in various positions without discrimination, including roles as civil servants, workers, or interns.

Additionally, Samdech Thipadei highlighted the importance of the private sector, civil society, factories, enterprises, and all institutions in taking responsible actions by recruiting PWDs in accordance with the Law on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
